Sunday featured a game against rival Madison whom the Lady Wolverines won a close, hard fought, game against only one week prior. It was certain to be a defensive battle and early scoring would be key. Caroline Murphy started the scoring early when she hit two baskets in the first quarter on the way to her season high of 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal (Also zero turnovers). Murphy's continued growth and emergence as a scorer this season has been a key element to the team's 6 game winning streak. For her performance on Sunday, Caroline is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Mia Nieves
Mia was laser focused on Sunday vs Madison. Nieves alternated between scoring herself and facilitating with passes to others on her way to 6 points (on 3 of 4 shooting), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks helping to lead the way to a 23-12 win against Madison. For her efforts, she is our Honorable Mention of the week.
Levi Wetherhead has been on a hot streak. The forward has stepped up and asserted himself scoring from all spots on the floor both inside and outside. When he wasn't knocking down 3's, he was driving and creating contact. On the weekend, Wetherhead scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and added a pair of steals and blocks for good measure. For his efforts, Levi is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Grayson Scharfstein
Grayson Scharfstein has been a focused distributor to the bountiful offensive weapons around him this season. This weekend was more of the same as the point guard scored 7, dished 10 assists, grabbed 15 rebounds, and 11 steals on defense. For his well rounded effort, Scharfstein is our Honorable mention of the week.
Ryan Gostomski loves to compete. If there is a big shot to take, he wants the ball, if a big steal or rebound is needed, you'll see him throw his small frame in the mix to compete for it. The weekend featured a couple of "figure it out" games for the Wolverines. In the first, against Madison, they grabbed their 15th win of the season. In the other, they were on the losing side vs Columbia. Gostomski was solid in both with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Max Britton
Max was an energy shot for the Wolverines this weekend. The forward used efficient scoring and mindful passing on his way to 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Britton was also tasked with defending on the perimeter and the interior providing versatility in the lineup. For his efforts, Max is our week 11 Honorable Mention for the week.
Cam White played solid basketball on a memorable 3-0 run for the 6th grade Wolverines. The guard scored 6 points, grabbed 11 boards, and added an assist while committing 0 turnovers in 3 games. White also intensified his effort on the defensive side of the ball with 4 steals. For his efforts, Camden White is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Justin Begej
Justin combined stellar defense with timely shooting this weekend to help power his team. Begej is an excellent perimeter defender who runs opponents off their shots and forces them to pass into the interior teeth of the Wolverines defense. In addition to scoring 6 points, Justin assisted on 4 other baskets, grabbed two rebounds and added a steal. Begej was also secure with the basketball committing only one turnover in 3 games. For his efforts, he is our Honorable Mention for the week.
