Liliana had quite the weekend. The teams leading scorer posted a season high 14 points in a win vs East Lyme. On the weekend, Michalski did a bit of everything for the Wolverines. In two games worth of action she scored 19 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, added 8 steals, and 2 blocked shots guiding her team to their fourth and fifth consecutive victory. For her dominant performance, Michalski is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Cadence Callahan-LaPia
Cadence was busy in two games worth of action vs Madison and East Lyme. In both victories, she was committed to doing the hard jobs on defense and rebounding the basketball. In all, Callahan-LaPia had 2 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocked shots. For her efforts, she is our Honorable Mention of the week.
Levi set the tone for the Wolverines scoring on 6 of the first 9 possessions in an explosive first quarter against Colchester. Wetherhead finished the game with 21 points. He has also taken on more rebounding efforts with the loss of a few of his front court teammates to injury; adding 9 boards. One thing is for sure, "The Wetherman" was making it rain on Sunday. For his efforts, he is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Dustin Linden
Dustin Linden is a great teammate due to his versatility. The guard can run point or man the wing guarding both spots as well defensively. This weekend, that well-rounded game was on display as Linden produced on the boards with 4 rebounds, he set teammates up with 6 assists, and 2 steals providing a shot of energy on both sides of the floor. Dustin is our Honorable mention of the week.
Mason Mejias is a critical part of the Wolverines game plan. His ability to maneuver from Forward to Guard makes him a match-up problem for opposing defenders. His ability to pass the ball off of double teams is another skill he brings to the table. Mason had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals, and only one turnover in 2 games. For his strong efforts, Mason is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: CJ Callahan
CJ Callahan was all over the floor in action this weekend for the Wolverines. He was setting up teammates with 8 assists and finding his own shot with 13 points. When CJ wasn't passing the ball , he was stealing it away from his opponents as he did 6 times along with pulling down 4 rebounds. Callahan is our week 11 Honorable Mention for the week.
Matthew Nelson helped the 6th grade Wolverines get back on a winning track this weekend with his solid play. Nelson was equal parts scorer and facilitator as he poured in 20 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists.For his solid all-around performance, which included a buzzer beater, "Nelly" is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: THE TEAM
This 6th grade squad has been on a growth journey together. They compete well together and are exciting to watch. This weekend, the TEAM pulled down an incredible 118 rebounds with 5 players reaching double digits (Ethan Johnson, Cole Howlett, Danny Maginnis, Brayden Antonelli, and Finn Gollareny). For this effort, the collective is our Honorable Mention for the week.
