In the biggest win of the young season, where everyone played well, Amelia and Annie were key contributors. The offensive scheme relies on players moving without the ball to create open shots. These teammates are the first movers in the set. On the first play of the game, they executed a perfect rotation leading to a 2-point swish from Kansler who caught a pass from Liliana Michalski. It continued from there as the duo combined for 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals leading the way to a win over Portland. For this effort, they are our Co-Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: MAKENNA JAMES
MaKenna James had an excellent effort against Portland. In addition to scoring 2points with a hard fought lay-up, she pulled down 9 rebounds in the contest. MaKenna brought intensity on the defensive end as well with 2 steals and numerous jump-ball tie-ups. For her awesome effort, she is our Honorable Mention of the week.
Grayson Scharfstein led his team to a signature win over New Britain. In addition to his 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, the point guard spearheaded the 3-2 zone defense forcing opponents into bad shots and deflecting passes that become steals and buckets for others. For his efforts, Scharfstein is the Week 6 - Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: GAVIN HOFFMAN
Gavin started the offense against New Britain by being a knock down shooter. He also impressed his coaches with decision making as he helped move the ball on the wing to find quality looks. For his efforts, Hoffman is our Honorable Mention for the week.
Owen Harris made his presence felt in all areas of the game in his teams win vs Manchester. Harris had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and a blocked shot as he altered many others on defense. The team used his performance to take a 36-20 win bringing their overall record to 6-5. For his performance, Owen is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: JORGE OLMO
Jorge Olmo joined the Wolverines this season as visions of rebounds and interior defense danced in the heads of Coach Pat and Matt based on Olmo's size, strength, and agility. The Center pulled down 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and blocked a shot in a very well rounded game. For his performance, Jorge is our Honorable Mention for the week.
"Nelly" is a do-it-all player for his team. He can handle the ball as a guard, shoot the three, post up like a big, and rebound. In another showdown with Wolcott, Nelson scored 5 points, added 3 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks on the defensive end. His coaches were most proud of his decision making and ball protection. For his performance, Nelly is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: FINN GOLLARENY
Finn was all-in with his efforts on both sides of the ball. In addition to scoring 2 points, he added 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. His willingness to playing a physical and high energy style, Gollareny was our Honorable Mention for week 6.
