Makenna has become grown into a player who channels her "all-out" effort into productive contributions on both sides of the ball. On Sunday, she led the team with 4 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and numerous jump ball tie ups that gave the Lady Wolverines possession in their win over Westbrook. Her strides this season have surely been a highlight and, for her efforts, James is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Liliana Michalski & CiCi Rodriguez
The Lady Wolverines are catching fire and now sit at 9-7 on the season. In Sunday's win vs Westbrook, Liliana Michalski and CiCi Rodriguez stood out. Rodriguez is a versatile interior and perimeter player with a reliable mid-range jump shot that always seems to go in when the team needs it most. Michalski is the teams leading scorer and rebounder who can be relied upon to jump start the offense. On Sunday, each Rodriguez and Michalski turned in 4 points. Michalski added 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals while Rodriguez tallied 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Jacob Grondzik has had a sizable impact for the Wolverines this season. Across two games this weekend, his impressive play continued. In games against Wolcott and Guilford, Grondzik scored 11 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, led the team in assists with 6, and added 2 steals. Also of note, was his performance in the fundraising shoot-a-thon where he hit an impressive 86% (86/100). For his efforts, he is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Lucas Moutinho
Lucas has grown tremendously as a player with the program. This season, he has been an anchor in the paint while recently taking on more workload while the team battles injuries in the frontcourt. In all, Moutinho had 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals for the weekend. For his efforts, Moutinho is our Honorable mention of the week.
Drew has been the catalyst for the 13-7 Wolverines. Averaging 12.1 points and 3 steals per game Kofsuske has been a force on both ends of the court. In two games this weekend, the swingman poured in 28 points while adding 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 7 steals. For this incredible effort, Drew is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Jorge Olmo
Jorge has played his way into being quite a productive center. The impact has been improved team rebounding numbers and a stingy interior defense. Over the weekend, Olmo had 2 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block. For his contributions, Jorge is our Honorable Mention for the week.
Cole had another excellent weekend in the post position. The center had 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in action against North Branford and Ledyard. For his solid all-around performance, Cole is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION: Matthew Filipowicz
Matthew has played a versatile role for the 6th grade team. He fluidly alternates between point and scoring guard responsibilities. In this weekends action "Flip" was productive indeed with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. For his efforts, Matthew is our Honorable Mention for the week.
