Makenna is so critical to the team's success. Her rebounding and interior defense solidify the Wolverines 2-3 zone defense. On the weekend, James was a force on both sides of the floor in two games of action. In close losses to Coginchaug and Harwinton, Makenna collected 6 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 1 blocked shot to earn our 5G Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
CiCi RODRIGUEZ
CiCi is the leading scorer for the 5G Wolverines and is often relied upon to take, and make, the big shot. This weekend, Rodriguez played with toughness and through a nagging injury to deliver 8 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocked shots to claim our Honorable Mention of the Week.
Mia put together another solid effort this weekend and helped her team claim one win vs. East Hampton and nearly a second against Montville. The Wolverines leading scorer was also a force on the defensive end. In all, Mia tallied 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 9 steals. For this effort, on both sides of the court, Nieves is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
ANNIE KANSLER
Annie had her best weekend of the season in week 10. As a point guard, Annie sets the offense and looks to find scoring opportunities for her teammates. This weekend saw Kansler help in many other ways as well as she scored 2 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished 5 assists, and grabbed 4 steals. For her performance, Annie is our Honorable Mention of the Week.
Noah Jones has been an impact player all season for his 6th grade squad. His coaches have noted the extra work he has done on his game outside of team practice and the results are showing. Jones had 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals on the weekend during a 1-1 slate. His defensive energy was even more stellar than the stat sheet shows. Noah is our Week 10 Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
EVAN INGRAHAM
Evan Ingraham enjoyed a strong weekend sparking his team, time and again, on offense. Ingraham's work off the dribble and ability to score in space helped him score 7 points while grabbing 4 rebounds. For his efforts, Evan is our Honorable Mention of the Week.
Noah has become a go-to shooter for the 6/7 Combo squad. In one game of action this weekend, Mason had 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals hitting two 3-point shots to help his team stay in the hunt against a strong Clinton team. For his efforts, Noah Mason is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
JAXSON GRAHAM
Jaxson has provided ball security and strong play at the lead guard position this season. This weekend he enjoyed a very well-rounded effort with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists earning our Honorable Mention of the Week.
Ethan's recognition as Player of the Week is coming in back-to-back campaigns. His emergence as a scorer compliments his position as the most prolific rebounder in program history (averaging 10.6 rebounds per game this season). On the 1-1 weekend for the 7th grade Wolverines, Johnson collected 18 points, 25 rebounds, 1 assist, and 6 steals. Once again, Ethan is our Player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
CAM WHITE
Cam is a player that does whatever helps his team win. His strong and timely screens often free a teammate for a score and the guard is a willing rebounder and interior or perimeter defender. Every team loves a hardworking teammate like Cam. This weekend, White played exceptionally well with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. For the strength of his play, White is our Honorable Mention this Week.
The Wolverines program has never had a scorer like JJ Warrick. As a dynamic wing, he has so many ways to beat you and it is an incredible luxury for the 17-3 Wolverines who won both games this weekend. Warrick was deadly this weekend with 55 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals in 2 games. That is not a typo... 55 points. What is most impressive is his efficiency. JJ shot 18 of 26 (69%) shooting including 12 of 16 (75%) from 3-point range and 7 for 8 from the free-throw line (88%). With this incredible performance, Warrick is our player of the Week.
HONORABLE MENTION:
DREW KOFSUSKE / CJ CALLAHAN / JAIME HINE
Callahan and Kofsuske are two of the three players that have been on the team for 3+ seasons (Logan LaPia is the 3rd). The two have been a dynamic tandem for some time. Jaime Hine is a new addition who brings scoring spark, high IQ, and defensive excellence to the team. This weekend, they were stellar in two games of action (Hine was active in one). Callahan had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 4 steals. Not to be outdone, Kofsuske had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals. Hine added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. For their efforts, Kofsuske, Callahan, AND Hine are our Honorable Mentions of the Week.
