Liliana is often taking on huge responsibility for the team with ball handling and scoring. It is also common that she guards, and is guarded by, the best player on the other team. No matter, she continues to post big numbers this week with a combined 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals earning our Player of the Week for the second time this season.
HONORABLE MENTION: MADDIE SMITH
The week of non-league competition featured two top-tier opponents and tested the Lady Wolverines. Maddie Smith was a spark plug in both games for the team and continued to show growth as a player. Providing toughness on defense (4 steals), rebounding (8 boards), and numerous jump ball scrambles, Maddie was a key part to each rally the team posted. For her efforts, she earns her second HM award of the season.
Dhevan "Bubba" turned in a memorable of a 4-game stretch for 8B powering them to the top spot in the CTBL Santa Shootout. In wins against Prospect, Branford, and Wolcott (and a close loss to Meriden) Kapoor scored a team high 47 total points, 16 rebounds, and a total of (9) 3-pointers! His effort on the defensive side of the ball and leadership were also noted by his coaches.
HONORABLE MENTION: Jacob StClair-Bell
JSB is a force his team can rely on to do the hardest work - specifically with rebounding. StClair-Bell pulled down 46 total rebounds in 4 games, scored 32 points, adding 6 blocks and 3 steals. He also put icing on the tournament win with a 3-point bomb at a critical moment.
Drew exploded across 3 games for the 7B Wolverines. The athletic wing poured in 43 points with 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and an astonishing 12 steals. It has become a common sight to see Kofsuske explode into passing lanes and create layups at the most critical times.
HONORABLE MENTION: LOGAN LAPIA
LaPia has embraced his role and prides himself on helping the team in any way possible. That role has become a "Swiss Army Knife" who brings energy on defense and scored in the flow of the offense (only 2 turnovers across 3 games) with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
Max White has played impeccably at the point guard spot for the 6th Grade squad. His skills handling the ball have allowed the team to consistently break the press. Max scored 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals in 3 games of action. Max has been efficient with a very strong shot IQ and displayed tremendous grit battling stomach issues in action against North Branford and Wolcott.
HONORABLE MENTION: ETHAN JOHNSON
Ethan is an impact player in all phases of the game. Extreme agility, high motor, and a gift of speed and strength help him make his team better even if he doesn't score the basketball. Over his first three game stretch of the season (he was still playing football), Ethan scored 6 points with an astounding 34 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 7 blocks that sometimes game the appearance he was smashing a volleyball that had been set.
