PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 11

JAZZY CRESPO - 5G

Jazzy had a season high 8 points against Pomperaug this past weekend and was simply spectacular. Crespo was a boost on the defensive side of the ball as well - especially in the press. The biggest call out from her coaches was the improvements in her decision making and patience at the point guard spot. With 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals,  Jazzy is our Player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

CADENCE CALLAHAN-LAPIA

Cadence has become such a versatile threat for the Lady Wolverines. The team's leading rebounder was all over the backboards in this weekends action. In one game of action, "KK" had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block to claim our Honorable Mention of the Week.

ANNIE KANSLER- 6G

Annie has been working hard all season and, on Saturday, may have played her finest all-around game. With 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, Annie was helping her team compete against a very tough Guilford team in many ways. For her commitment, hard work, and continued improvement, Annie is our Player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

LILIANA MICHALSKI

Michalski simply does it all for the Lady Wolverines. Scoring, rebounding, defending, and even diving on the floor for loose balls... Michalski is there. This weekend, she scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and added 5 steals against 2nd place Guilford. For her efforts, Liliana is our Honorable Mention of the Week.

EVAN CARBINE -6B

Evan hd a very strong weekend against tough competition. Having a presence at the center position who can score and defend the rim is key in becoming a strong team. This weekend, Carbine gave the Wolverines that edge with a season high 12 points vs Branford and he collected 14 rebounds with 2 blocked shots across 2 games. For his efforts, Evan  is our Player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

MASON SECORD

Mason was a spark for the Wolverines against New Britain and Branford this weekend. He was active on both sides of the floor as evidenced by his 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. For his performance, Secord is our Honorable Mention of the Week.

CHRIS HOLMAN - 6/7B

Chris has emerged this season as a strong interior presence and capable scorer. His 5 points and 4 rebounds underscored that in his teams contest against HYA on Saturday. Coach Bozzi has called out Chris's improvement as notable and a boost to his team. For his performance, Chris is our Player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

JOEY BOZZI

Joey Bozzi has been steady all season for the 6/7 team. He was strong again this weekend with a 9 point, 5 rebound performance. This included 5-5 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter. For his performance, Bozzi is our Honorable Mention of the Week.

MAX WHITE - 7B

Max plays the game like a pure point guard. Break the press and distribute the ball while draining the open shot. That was precisely what he did for his team against Milford. In the teams 11th win of the season, White had 4 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, and 1 steal. His team got the win and Max earned our Player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

JACK CORSO

Corso is a "Jack-of-all-trades"  for the 7B Wolverines. Corso is the 3rd leading scorer (8.9 ppg), team leader in assists (3.1 asg), and sits second in steals (2.4 spg) on the season. Against Milford, Corso tallied 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. For his effort, Jack is our Honorable Mention this Week.

CONNER WOOLARD - 8B

Conner Woolard is the spark that starts the Wolverines fast break and full court press with CJ Callahan. This weekend Conner was lights out against rival Wolcott. The game is always heated and close but Wallingford has won 5 of the last 6 in the series. Wollard led all scorers with 17 points while grabbing 3 rebounds, handing out 6 assists, and adding 1 steal. For this dominating performance, Woolard is our player of the Week.

HONORABLE MENTION:

MASON MEJIAS

Mason has had some of his best games against Wolcott. The rivalry brings out the best in him and this game was no exception. Mason, the teams 2nd leading rebounder, has sacrificed scoring this season to do whatever the team needs. In this game, that was a bit of everything. Mejias had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. For his efforts, Mason is our Honorable Mentions of the Week.
