PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

4th GRADE BOYS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

ROBERT WHITEHOUSE

Robert Whitehouse was well balanced in his performance in a win vs Coginchaug. The versitile wing tallied 6 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocked shots to help 4BW secure a coveted conference win. 


HONORABLE MENTION:

LUCAS CORDERO

Lucas provided a spark to the Wolverines and played key minutes against Coginchaug on Friday. His weekend saw him collect 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal. 

5/6th GRADE BOYS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

KOBRIN WALSH

Walsh had an excellent weekend for the 5/6th grade squad. He made big plays in a back-and-forth (47-48) overtime thriller vs. North Branford . Across 2 games, Kobrin tallied 19 points, 22 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 blocked shot. 


HONORABLE MENTION: 

MASON YCAZA

Ycaza was a defensive standout for the Wolverines. The guard had 5 steals and a blocked shot across two games. His "and-one" lay-up late in Friday's game against North Branford helped to force overtime. 


6th GRADE GIRLS


PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

CADENCE CALLAHAN-LAPIA

Callahan-LaPia hit a game winner this weekend to seal an overtime victory against Portland. In two games of play Cadence "KK" tallied 5 points, 26 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 1 blocked shot. 


HONORABLE MENTION:

EMILY GRAYEB

Emily was an example of heart and hustle on the weekend and her coaches noted both. Grayeb made many key plays on the way to collecting 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, and a blocked shot on the weekend.

7th GRADE GIRLS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

MIA NIEVES

Nieves was superb in all facets of the game this weekend against HAR-BUR. In one game of action this weekend, the lead guard was creating for others, scoring the ball, and making an impact on the defensive end in the win. Mia totaled 7 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots.  


HONORABLE MENTION:

ANNIE KANSLER

Kansler was impactful and especially impressed with passing and decision making. In all, Annie had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals but the numbers don't tell the whole story of her sound play. 


7th GRADE BOYS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

MAXWELL MATUSKEY

Maxwell has taken a leap forward this season running the offense from the point guard sport while also doing more scoring. On the weekend, Matuskey had 13 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals leading his team to a 1-1 record.


HONORABLE MENTION:

ALEX RIVERA

Rivera repeats as Honorable Mention this week with his continued improvement. His 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 blocked shot were a bright spot for his team. 

8th GRADE BOYS BLUE

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

ELLIOT BERKUN

Berkun made some big shots in action against Colchester this week. His 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist were part of a breakout scoring performance for the first year Wolverine. 


HONORABLE MENTION:

JOEY BOZZI

Bozzi led his team in scoring (12 pts) on Saturday and he grabbed 7 rebounds and 1 assist for the 8 Blue team. Bozzi has led his team to the program's best 3-1 record so far this season. 


8th GRADE BOYS GOLD

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

COLE HOWLETT

Howlett leads an exceptional frontcourt group for the 8th grade Wolverines. Over the weekend, he was an efficient scorer with14 points and a relentless rebounder with 17 boards while adding 3 steals and a block. 


HONORABLE MENTION:

RYAN GOSTOMSKI

Gostomski got it going this weekend scoring 28 points across two games. His scoring prowess was complemented by his 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
